Beschreibung
Suzie Miller’s gripping and passionate one-woman drama took London’s West End by storm, won the Olivier Award for Best New Play in 2023 and is soon the be released as a film starring Cynthia Erivo. Raw, emotional and thought-provoking, Prima Facie is a work of fiction, but one that could have been ripped from the headlines any day of the week.
Tessa is a young and brilliant barrister. She has worked her way up from working-class origins to the top of her game, specializing in defending men accused of sexual assault. She fiercely believes in the fairness of the legal system that gives the accused the benefit of the doubt. But an unexpected event shakes her faith to the core and forces her to confront the patriarchal power of the law. What unfolds is a powerful and deeply personal reckoning with justice and the gaps between truth and the rules of the courtroom game.
„A play that roars... urgent and powerful.” – Guardian
„An unforgettable moment of theatre.” – WhatsOnStage
„A striking drama... pacy and punchy.” – Independent
Trigger warning: This play includes sensitive subject matters including references to sexual violence. Recommended for ages 15+
